Michenna, Justice & I were driving South of Auckland towards Kariotahi beach for their engagement photo shoot when I realised we were going to be super early for sunset, as daylight savings had thrown me a bit off with my calculations. I love when my couples trust me with what may seem to be a random idea, so with the vague question, “do you want to go on a bit of an adventure?” We were soon off to one of my favourite places in Franklin. Glenbrook Vintage Railway. A quick phone call to the number on the gate and permission was granted to take a step back in time for some nostalgic looking photos.
I do find it pretty important to point out that you should always be safe around railway tracks and never put yourself at risk on active lines. These photos was taken at the end of the line of a closed station when no trains were running on that line.
After that we were back in the car and off to the beach! We’d chosen to do the shoot on this specific day because Michenna had her hair and makeup trial scheduled with the amazing Serenity Makeup. Wedding tip: Always schedule a trial – it helps you and your makeup artist nail down your look and products that will suit your skin type specifically.
It had been touch and go with the weather in the lead up for this shoot and even the day of and we almost cancelled but were so glad that we didn’t. The clouds cleared as we approached the beach and man o man did the sunset turn it on for us! It was a great evening getting to know a very special couple!
